The Historical Museum, located in the southeast of the Cultural Park of the southern Yangtze River, displays the twice unearthed artifacts excavated in the historic site of Luzhi Cheng Lake in 1974 and 2003. It’s based on the cultural relics revealed from the archaeological excavations and the unearthed relics, to demonstrate the production and life situations of our Luzhi ancestors for five thousand years.
The historic site of Luzhi Cheng Lake was found to have 422 wells, currently one of the historic sites with the most wells in Taihu Lake Basin. The first well can be dated back about 5,500 years. The tool of drawing water, appearing with the well simultaneously, is not a single tool but also used as the appliance of storage or drinking utensils, etc. Early the tool of acquiring water mostly came from the ceramics, but started to specifically take the wooden tool for getting water.
